You know there really is no public money that influences Vegas oddsmakers when it comes to college basketball lines. Oddsmakers are looking to beat sharp players with hoops lines in college, outside of the occasional Duke / North Carolina Game or Kansas and Oklahoma. With that in mind here are 2 teams Vegas oddsmakers know the public loves to bet. Use caution when playing these two teams.
A couple of teams to fade that are popular for everyone to wager, and one of them is Duke. They have maybe a 7 man rotation, and are very thin on the bench which is shocking considering they recruit so well. They cannot extend scores or hang in there in a tough battle against a good opponent. Anytime they are laying much over 5 points, they are a go against team. Not to say Duke is a bad team, but they are not a team who can carry a big number in a big game.
Another team who is way over rated, especially on the road, is Kentucky. The team concept of the Wildcats this year as opposed to last year has been lost and they take a ton of bad shots, and on the road Kentucky laying a number is a very scary proposition. This is not a Kentucky team that is going to contend for a national title in 2016 folks, and reputation alone does not cash tickets at the betting window.
Duke is 8-9 ATS on the season, and Kentucky is 7-11 ATS year to date headed into this weekend’s action. In other words as you can see neither team has a positive spread record. You are better served doing your homework on some under the radar teams than trying to back these two over valued teams. A word of advice in the upcoming weeks.
